Gary Kittredge

Gary vividly recalls the night he was called to publicly acknowledge Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was just 8 years old and was lying awake at his home in Raleigh, NC. Later, as an adult, Gary felt the Lord calling him again, this time to tell others about Christ in war-torn Liberia.

Later, as an adult, Gary felt the Lord calling him again, this time to tell others about Christ in war-torn Liberia. In response, he decided to sell the successful business that took him 22 years to build, say goodbye to family and friends, and relocate with his wife and three daughters to Liberia, where he could MAGNIFY God’s glory to the country’s poverty-stricken people. But while resolute in his decision, he felt he lacked the depth of biblical knowledge and personal mentoring needed for the journey.

Gary received the theological training and encouragement he needed at Shepherds. Gary and his family are now living in Liberia, West Africa, where they are planting healthy churches. In addition, they developed a ministry that is focused on imparting, demonstrating, and modeling biblical truth through:

  • Training Liberian Leaders
  • Sustaining Liberian Communities
  • Educating Liberian Children

Theological education is now available to pastors and others in the area. Liberian communities are learning agricultural skills to grow and raise their food, and they now have access to safe drinking water. Gary’s family has seen overall health conditions in their community improve, especially among pregnant women and their babies. In addition, Gary also reports that young men are being trained as teachers to assist local churches in facilitating biblically integrated children’s education. God has greatly impacted the lives of the Liberian people and His glory continues to be magnified as more and more communities are reached.
